Sanctus Real set to Perform at 5th Annual Waves of Glory!

Wet ‘n Wild® Orlando to Feature More Live Entertainment
than Ever Before!

Wet ‘n Wild Orlando announces that this year’s Waves of Glory lineup will feature a live concert performance by two-time GRAMMY® nominated, Dove Award-winning artists, Sanctus Real. Headlining their very own “Promises Tour” this spring, Sanctus Real will wrap up Waves of Glory on Saturday, April 27, 2013.

Wet ‘n Wild has turned up the volume to feature some of the best emerging artists in Christian rock, gospel, punk and R&B during its signature Battle of the Bands competition. After the winners have been announced, Sanctus Real will take the stage to perform tracks from their sixth studio album, Run, released on February 5th with Sparrow Records. Run is the follow-up to their 2010 GRAMMY® nominated Pieces of a Real Heart, which featured their career-breaking hit “Lead Me.” “We are always excited to play music in the theme park setting! Everyone is already having such a great time, putting on a rock show at the end of the day is like icing on the cake!” explained Mark Graalman, drummer for Sanctus Real. “We're also very excited about the battle of the bands. We were an independent band for six years before signing with Sparrow Records and did a few BOTB's in our day. It'll be a blast seeing the up and coming talent!”
Waves of Glory celebrates fun, faith and fellowship and is a day jam-packed with top quality local and regional Christian talent along with national recording artists Sanctus Real. It’s the perfect venue to share in a day of worship and praise while enjoying inspirational live performances, along with access to some of the most thrilling waterpark experiences.

Wet ‘n Wild Orlando, the world’s first waterpark as recognized by the World Waterpark Association, introduced the world to the waterpark concept in 1977. Today, over 15 themed rides and attractions comprise an over-abundance of thrills that provide guests an exciting variety of ways to “share the rush” with family and friends.

The excitement of Waves of Glory is included with admission to Wet ‘n Wild Orlando.

Disney Springs - A Downtown Disney Makeover

Today, Disney unveiled plans for Disney Springs, the exciting, multi-year transformation of Downtown Disney at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Disney’s fundamental goal is to create a welcoming, comfortable space where families can enjoy time together and instantaneously feel right at home. They want to give them opportunities to relax, to be entertained, to wander in and out of unique and distinctive shops or enjoy a world-class dining experience. And because they are Disney, they have anchored the entire experience around a story that gives them the ability to deliver on the legendary place-making and creativity for which they are known. The result is Disney Springs, a timeless and vibrant place that celebrates the turn-of-the century lakeside towns that dotted the Florida landscape.

The story of Disney Springs begins at the new Town Center, which is oriented around a series of bubbling natural springs that first attracted settlers to the area. From there, the town grew to encompass three additional neighborhoods: The Landing, Marketplace and West Side – each with its own distinct charm and atmosphere.

Once complete, Disney Springs will expand from 75 to more than 150 shopping, dining and entertainment venues, featuring some of the world’s most iconic brands and restaurants. Construction is set to begin next month. The expansion will open in phases and we expect to complete our development in 2016.

Oz The Great and Powerful Sneak Peek

Oz The Great and Powerful Sneak Peek

February 16 to March 31, 2013

In case you aren’t yet familiar, the film tells the back story of Oz The Great and Powerful. Here’s the synopsis: When Oscar Diggs, a small-time magician, is hurled away from Kansas to the Land of Oz, he thinks fame and fortune are his for the taking, until he meets three witches who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Drawn into the epic problems facing the inhabitants of Oz, Oscar must use his magical arts to save them and transform himself into the great and powerful wizard—and into a better man as well.

We’re happy to announce today that guests visiting the 2013 Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival this spring can visit this Land of Oz in the form of an original interactive play area that will be one of the festival’s newest offerings. Here, guests can follow in the footsteps of Oz The Great and Powerful by playing carnival games in a circus-themed area. Here red-and-white tents will offer all kinds of midway games, plus fun photo opportunities.

The next stop is the “Land of Oz Play Area”, where bubbles fill the air, and where you can find: play equipment adorned with giant flowers, The Great and Powerful Oz’s crashed hot-air balloon, and more! Guests can also wander through the “Oz Movie Garden,” which will feature lush, unusual plants inspired by the Land of Oz.

LEGO® STAR WARS™ Miniland

LEGOLAND® Florida is open 7 days a week, but may be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during specific periods. LEGOLAND® Water Park is closed for the season and will re-open March 9, 2013.

LEGO® STAR WARS™ Miniland

Guests can enjoy seven of the most famous scenes from the six live-action Star Wars movies, as well as a scene from the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars™ all made out of 1.5 million LEGO® bricks built in 1:20 scale. Guests will be further immersed into the Star Wars experience as they pose with life-size LEGO models of Chewbacca, R2-D2 and Darth Vader.

Following a chronological path through the Star Wars™ timeline, LEGOLAND guests retrace the major events of the beloved Saga. Some of the 2,000 LEGO models will be more than 6-feet-tall. Interactive buttons will allow children to activate animations throughout the scenes.

Episode I: Naboo
Naboo is one of the most geographically varied planets in the Star Wars™ galaxy. This scene depicts the Battle of Naboo and the capital Theed – both the Royal Palace and the hangar can be seen here. In this battle scene, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn encounter and fight the Sith apprentice, Darth Maul. Look closely at the details of this scene, but  not so close that you may be pulled to the dark side!

Episode II: Geonosis
In this scene, visitors have a fantastic view of the Geonosis arena, in which Padmé Amidala, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker battle ferocious creatures. Witness the clash between Count Dooku’s droid army and the Grand Army of the Republic.

Episode III: Kashyyyk and Mustafar
In this scene, two planets are revealed: Kashyyyk and Mustafar. On one side, you'll be placed right into the Battle of Kashyyyk – the home of Chewbacca and the Wookiees. Here you'll discover fantastic vehicles modeled from LEGO bricks, such as the massive Clone Turbo Tank. On the other side, catch a glimpse of the fateful duel on Mustafar between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker.

Episode IV: Tatooine
Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, C-3PO and R2-D2 can be spotted in this desert planet...introducing Tatooine. Here you'll discover Uncle Owen’s moisture farm, where Luke Skywalker lived as a child; peek inside the Cantina where the animated Cantina Band plays and stand above the spaceport where the largest LEGO model of Han Solo's famous starship, the Millennium Falcon, sits ready for take-off.

Episode V: Hoth
The Rebels take refuge on this icy planet, but the Empire tracks them down and the Rebels are forced to flee. Introducing....Hoth. This scene features LEGO models of the Imperial AT-ATs, Rebel snowspeeders and Luke Skywalker’s X-wing starfighter. Look closely and you'll see Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia.

Episode VI: Endor
Next we travel to a forest moon and home of the Ewoks, who fight against the Imperial Forces alongside the Rebels...Endor. The Endor system plays a key role in Return of the Jedi as the site of the Battle of Endor, fought to prevent construction of the second Death Star. This scene presents the final victory of the Rebel Alliance over the Empire. Here you can view a large-scale model of an Imperial shuttle on its landing platform, delivering a fearsome passenger - the Dark Lord of the Sith himself, Darth Vader.

The Clone Wars: Christophsis
The seventh area brings us to a scene from the animated series The Clone Wars on the planet Christophsis. Chronologically, the series takes place between Episode II and Episode III and focuses on the adventures of Jedi Knights Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. The LEGO scene depicts part of the planet’s surface, with the largest of all LEGO Star Wars™ models: an approximately 8-foot tall building from the Crystal City. You will also a scene showing a battle between Separatist battle droids and Republic clone troopers.

How the LEGO models are created:
The roughly 2,000 LEGO Star Wars™ models are being developed and built by eight model designers and two animation electricians at our sister park, LEGOLAND Deutschland in Günzburg, Germany. It is up to the Master Model Builders at LEGOLAND California to bring the scenes to life with the help of animation electricians, technicians and landscapers all working to ensure the LEGO models appear as realistic as possible with special effects and landscaping.

Planning started in March 2010. The individual film scenes were selected after careful consultation with Lucasfilm Ltd. Pictures and drawings of the figures, spacecraft, vehicles, landscapes, etc. were taken as the basis for the detailed construction blueprints. The model designers used a special LEGO drawing paper for this, on which one square is equivalent to one LEGO knob.  In the next step, they calculated how many bricks and which colors and forms would be needed for the models. For particularly difficult model parts, prototypes are first built, before the model is constructed brick by brick. To help the LEGO models last longer, all of the bricks are glued together and then sprayed with a special UV coating.

Authentic Star Wars™ sounds, actions and lighting effects help to make the models even more lifelike. For all models, only commercially available LEGO pieces are used.
LEGOLAND Deutschland and LEGOLAND Billund will also be opening new Star Wars™ Miniland displays in 2011.
